INANNA INITIATIVE: WHY?

In many parts of India menstrual hygiene is still taboo. It’s an important part of women’s health and well-being. In Indian public schools, girls are deprived of essential information about menstruation as well as the necessary resources. These resources are needed to ensure that young women can safely manage their period.

In order to address this problem, it is essential to provide sanitary products in these public schools. Inanna Initiative was created to achieve this goal!

What Do We Include In Our Health Seminars?

We provide informative and comprehensive seminars on different aspects of menstrual hygiene. We cover a wide range of topics, including the following.

Inanna seminars will cover the basics of menstrual cycles, including hormonal changes and life phases. This will help girls to understand the natural processes that occur in their bodies.

Menstrual hygiene practices: We stress the importance of menstrual cleanliness to promote a healthy life style and prevent infection.

Exercise and nutrition: We also emphasize information on how regular exercise and nutrition can positively influence menstrual hygiene. We emphasize the importance of a healthy diet, adequate hydration, and specific nutrients to support menstrual health.

Inanna will engage the girls in a discussion about menstrual stigma, and help them to overcome social taboos. We will foster a supportive atmosphere for the girls by encouraging open discussions.

What do we mean, when we say that we provide girls with access to menstrual products?

By means of fundraising we aim to raise enough money to buy a yearly supple of sanitary napkins, a dispenser of sanitary napkins, and an incinerator that can destroy the sanitary pads after usage.

Not only do we wish to supply these products to the girls, but in the future we are also planning to involve gynaecologists , who can help these girls understand their own bodies better.
